For this assignment, I had to create a food court app, designing everything myself in a style that fits the country of origin of the dish. I chose yogurt because it is a typical product from Turkey. I really enjoyed this assignment because I learned more about Turkish cuisine and how important yogurt is there. At the same time, I found it quite challenging, especially because I had to get both the technical side of the app and the design right, so everything would fit together well. It was a learning process but definitely a big challenge to get everything done properly.
3 Collages
The first assignment was to create three collages in the style of Turkey. I noticed that it was helpful to include lots of small figures, colors, and texts, as these elements later provided many possibilities for further developing the app and creating a cohesive design.
Sketches
After creating the three collages, I made five sketches for each collage, as well as ten separate sketches to explore which elements best matched the style of my country and the desired design.
Styleboard
I started putting together my style board by selecting the colors and fonts that best fit the desired look of my app. Then, I added important details such as the use of layers and the choice of buttons to create a visually appealing and user-friendly experience.
Ingredients
These are the final elements of my design, where I deliberately used many of the same colors and shadows to create a realistic effect. I am satisfied with the result, as it has become both visually appealing and clear.
Animation
Choices
The assignment also required creating animations for the app: the first was for the location icon, the second for the logo, and the third appeared as a thank you message after an order was placed.
Personally, I chose to use stop-motion because I think it has a fun and cozy feel. For the first and second animations, I also used the same background and colors to create a cohesive style that remains consistent throughout.
